When I paused exhibiting my fine art projects to focus on raising my family, I did my best to carve out time to keep creating and engaging in artistic endeavors when I could. This started by taking my own children’s portraits, choreographing for a local musical and creating marketing material for the non-profits that I volunteered with. When my daughter was five and cast in her first Nutcracker I became a “ballet mom” and as lover of ballet I was thrilled. During the first stage rehearsal I helped the young dancers backstage and my childhood performing arts experience kicked in….by the end of the night I had volunteered to assist with stage management for the run of ten shows. Over the next decade I volunteered with several ballet organizations creating props, building sets and working as a stage manager. My worlds collided as this became a family affair as my daughter danced and my son and husband joined in building sets and working backstage. I enjoyed watching the artistic process from rehearsal to stage and began taking photographs to try and capture how inspiring being a part of creating art was for me.

I fully believe in supporting other artists especially as the disparity between an artist’s income and the cost of living continues to increase.
